living in a cube (literally)

Another worth visit for architecture lover, or just regular people, Kubuswoningen, or cube houses, located in the Overblaak street. there’s no way you could miss it, just situated across the Blaak metro station. Designed by architect Piet Blom in 1984,it was designed upon a hexagon-pylon, tilted 45 degrees. There are small 38 yellow cubes and 2 other Super Cubes, attached to each other. The concept behind these houses is that he tries to create a forest by each cube representing an abstract tree; therefore the whole village becomes a forest.

These are true residential places, and shops, also small museums, and said that  they were quite annoyed with the visitors, but there is one owner who opens its door for visitors. Now,  the cube house is transformed into a new ‘Stayokay’ Hostel. A chic hostel, with old harbour view. Maybe I should stay here sometime later, to get the feel to sleep under a tilted cube….
